Govt. Brijindra College is a premier educational institution of the Malwa region in Punjab. In pursuance of the wisdom that excellence is a journey and not a destination, Govt. Brijindra College embarks upon the endeavor of seeking NAAC accreditation. Founded in the memory of His Highness Maharaja Brij Inder Singh of Faridkot, the college started its voyage in 1942. Affiliation was extended to the college by Panjab University in 1948, and subsequently by Punjabi University, Patiala, in 1966.
Since its inception, the college has prioritized the pursuit of knowledge, which is never confined to textual pedantry. Its progressive, humanistic, and visionary culture has evolved through the institutionalization of best academic practices. The college has been widely recognized as a model institution for the interweaving of liberal education and scientific knowledge with practical wisdom, yielding a progressive impact on academic and social affairs. The faculty members of the college have a history of being intellectually diverse and enterprising. A deep commitment to academic freedom is the college’s hallmark, which is essential for creativity and innovation.
Situated in the lap of Faridkot town, which derives its name from the 12th-century Sufi saint Baba Farid, the college is spread across 35 acres of prime land. The campus boasts rich infrastructure comprising teaching and administrative blocks, state-of-the-art multipurpose halls, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a boys’ hostel, and lush green landscaped lawns, making the college an educational paradise. The college is proud to have a well-stocked library with a plethora of books, magazines, and journals. The library database can be accessed through an open-access catalogue on computers. The library also has an e-learning section providing easy access to e-literature. Some of the college’s outstanding students have joined IITs, AIIMS, AFMC, and other advanced institutes of national and international repute.
ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਿੰਦਰਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਵਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੈ। “ਉੱਤਮਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ” ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਿੰਦਰਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ NAAC ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਫਰੀਦਕੋਟ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਇੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਇਹ ਕਾਲਜ 1942 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ‘ਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਿਆ। 1948 ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਬੰਧਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ 1966 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਤਰਜੀਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮਕ ਕਿਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ। ਸਾਡੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਤੀਸ਼ੀਲ, ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾਵਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਅਭਿਆਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਤੀਸ਼ੀਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ, ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਦਾਰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਬੌਧਿਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਡਲ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਬੁੱਧੀਜੀਵਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਦਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਵਾਇਤ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਲਈ ਲਾਹੇਵੰਦ ਹੈ।
ਫਰੀਦਕੋਟ ਕਸਬਾ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ 12ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਸੂਫ਼ੀ ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਆ, ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਇਹ ਕਾਲਜ 35 ਏਕੜ ਰਕਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੈਂਪਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਬਲਾਕ, ਅਧੁਨਿਕ ਮਲਟੀਪਰਪਜ਼ ਹਾਲ, ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਖੇਡ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ, ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਸਟਲ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇ-ਭਰੇ ਬਗ਼ੀਚੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸਵਰਗ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ, ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਰਨਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਟਾਕ ਕੀਤੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ। ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦਾ ਡਾਟਾਬੇਸ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਓਪਨ ਐਕਸੈਸ ਕੈਟਾਲੌਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਹੈ। ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਈ-ਲਰਨਿੰਗ ਭਾਗ ਵੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਈ-ਸਾਹਿਤ ਤੱਕ ਆਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਗਾਂਹਵਧੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਈ.ਆਈ.ਟੀ., ਏਮਜ਼, ਏ.ਐੱਫ.ਐੱਮ.ਸੀ., ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਅਧੁਨਿਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
